Once again we find ourselves in the final stretch leading into another highly anticipated NXT live special. NXT Takeover on February 11th promises to deliver once again live on the WWE Network. In the coming days leading up to the special we’ll take a look at some of the key matches that will make this event so memorable. First up is the ladies.
NXT Womens Championship Fatal Four
Way
Charlotte vs Bayley vs Sasha Banks vs
Becky Lynch
In a match that could possibly steal the show NXT Womens Champ Charlotte defends her title in a fatal four way against Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch. The Womens title matches have become a definitive highlight of the NXT specials and have raised the bar in the womens division for the entire WWE. Featuring the four top athletes of the division, this fatal four way has the potential of topping the previous Womens title bouts. The technical abilities of all four women here are without question, what adds dimension here is the dynamics between the four…. The dissension between Lynch and Banks, the evolution of doe-eyed good girl Bayley, the champion with the odds stacked against her. This is a match that could truly go any direction.
Since winning the title last May in an incredible match against Natalya, Charlotte has only gotten better, all the while turning away any challenger that comes her way. Charlotte is a fighting champion that has put on consistently great matches, however on Feb 11th she doesn’t even have to be pinned to lose her title.
Undoubtedly, Sasha Banks has to be the odds on favorite going into the match. Although she was not able to take home the gold, she took the champ to the limit in an amazing match that became an instant classic at Takeover: REvolution. Banks has all the qualities of a champion and thus far, she has come closer to defeating the champ than anyone.
Fan favorite Bayley unquestionably has the fans on her side and many would wager that it is simply her time. The perennial underdog has a new attitude and a renewed focus, as we saw on the January 21st episode of NXT when she delivered a statement to Charlotte in the form of a Belly-To-Bayley Suplex.
It would be a mistake for Charlotte or Bayley to consider Becky Lynch an afterthought, just as it would be a mistake for Banks to think alliances mean anything when the title is up for grabs. Lynch may be the dark horse in this contest, but it is that underestimation that may work to the advantage of the fiery redhead.
My pick: Becky Lynch. The exuberance and the athletic prowess of the Irish Wrestler have merited her ever growing fan base who all knows what she is capable of in the ring. However, on February 11th competing for the title in the biggest match of her NXT career she will show everyone else.
